2015 Cabernet Sauvignon "Colonel's Vineyard"

With the enviable position at the top of the property, The Colonel’s Vineyard is a small, 1 ¼ acre block planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. This pristine block has a gently sloping south-west exposure for even ripening of the fruit.

In 2015 we peeled off 7 barrels of the wine from this beautiful vineyard of Clone 337 Cabernet. We barrel ferment these grapes. Until recently, this was a highly unusual process for red wine fermentation which I learned in Bordeaux; now it is widely used for many of California’s most expensive Cabernets.

2015 Vintage Not Yet Reviewed; 2014 Vintage Review:

"This is from a small block of the proprietor’s vineyard and made entirely from one variety. It’s gorgeous and perfumed, grippy and hugely structured, with a bright exuberantly complex midpalate of intriguing plum and peppery clove. Gentle and balanced, it’s enjoyable now, but will also age."
